Trust & Security

Your society's data — and money — stay yours

Societly is built so that trust is something you can verify, not something we ask you to take on faith. Your maintenance money settles into your own bank, your AI runs on your own phone, and your data is never sold. Here's exactly how.

Our commitments

Eight promises, each with the mechanism behind it

A society is trusting you with its money, its members' details and its day-to-day security. We don't ask for blind faith — every commitment below comes with the specific reason it holds true.

Only on Societly
Societly never takes a cut

Maintenance paid in-app is settled to your society's own bank account through a regulated banking partner — usually the next working day. The money is your society's, and Societly never takes a commission or platform fee from it.

Only on Societly
Private AI that stays on the phone

Meeting minutes, notice drafts, complaint sorting and bill explanations are generated on the resident's own device. Nothing is uploaded to any cloud, it works offline — a privacy promise cloud-based platforms simply cannot make.

Only on Societly
No ads. No data resale. Ever.

Societly is not funded by advertising or data. No ads, no sponsored notifications, no data resale — your residents are never the product, and never advertising inventory.

PCI-DSS certified payments

Every card and bank payment is handled by a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment gateway. Societly never sees or stores full card numbers or bank details on its servers.

Hosted in India

Your data lives on secure, independently-certified cloud infrastructure, with primary storage and processing kept within India.

Role-based access, per society

A guard can't see finances; one resident can't see another flat's data; every society is isolated from every other. Committees control who sees what, in line with their bye-laws.

Encrypted in transit and at rest

All data moves over TLS/HTTPS and is encrypted at rest. Internal access is protected with role-based permissions and multi-factor authentication, backed by regular security reviews and dependency auditing.

You own your data — export anytime

Members, units and billing history export in standard formats whenever you want. No lock-in, no annual contract required. Because your money is in your own bank and your data is portable, leaving is always painless.

Where your money goes

Your collections stay your society's money

A common worry with any new platform: "what happens to our maintenance collection?" With Societly, the answer is simple — it's your society's money. Collections are settled to your society's own bank account, and Societly never takes a cut of them.

1

Resident pays

A resident pays their bill in the app by UPI, card or net banking.

2

Securely processed

A regulated banking and payment partner processes the payment under a formal agreement.

3

Settled to your society

Funds are settled to the society's own bank account, typically within one to two working days.

4

Auto-reconciled

The payment is matched to the exact invoice, a receipt is issued instantly, and the defaulter list updates itself.

No cut, ever. Societly charges no commission or platform fee on your society's collections — your society keeps 100% of its maintenance dues, and we earn from the software subscription.

Zero fee on UPI. Residents pay by UPI, card or net banking through our RBI-authorised payment partner. UPI carries no gateway charge, and every payment is automatically reconciled and settles to your society's own bank account — nothing for the committee to match by hand.

Authorised, on record. Before online collection is switched on, your committee accepts a Collection Authorisation Agreement — an on-record mandate authorising Societly to register your society as a merchant with our RBI-authorised payment partner. Your society is the merchant of record; Societly sets it up but never collects or holds the money. Filed as a committee-only document.

The privacy no one else can match

The AI runs on the phone — not in someone's cloud

Every other platform's "AI" sends your society's data to a server to be processed. Societly's assistant works entirely on the resident's own device. It turns a meeting recording into minutes and action items, drafts notices and committee replies from one line, sorts complaints by category and priority, and explains any bill in plain language — across 14 Indian languages.

Because it never leaves the phone, it works offline, costs nothing per use, and your meeting recordings and financial questions are never uploaded anywhere. That is a guarantee a cloud-AI platform structurally cannot make.

Security & infrastructure

The technical detail, in plain words

For the technically-minded committee member — or the IT-savvy resident who asks the hard questions — here's how your data is actually held and protected.

Hosted in India

Runs on AWS in the India region (ap-south-2, Hyderabad). Primary storage and processing stay within the country.

Encrypted in transit & at rest

All traffic is TLS/HTTPS encrypted; stored data is encrypted at rest.

Least-privilege access

Role-based access per society, multi-factor authentication on internal access, and an audit trail of sensitive actions.

Backups & recovery

Regular automated backups of critical data, so a society's records can be restored if something goes wrong.

Ongoing security testing

Internal security reviews and dependency scanning on an ongoing basis. An independent CERT-In empanelled audit is planned; we will publish the report here when it is complete.

Payments never stored

Card and bank details are handled by a PCI-DSS-compliant gateway — Societly never stores full card or account numbers.

Compliance & certifications

Where we stand, honestly

We state what's done plainly, and what's in progress as in progress — never the other way around. Trust is lost the moment a claim overreaches.

DPDP Act 2023 aligned

Live

Built around India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act — clear consent, data-principal rights, a named Grievance Officer, and data-deletion on request.

RBI-compliant payments

Live

Payments are processed by an RBI-authorised payment partner. Societly is a technology platform — not a payment aggregator or a bank — so we never pool or hold your society's money; collections settle to the society's own bank account.

PCI-DSS payments

Live

Card and bank data is processed by a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment gateway. We inherit that standard by never touching card data ourselves.

Certified cloud infrastructure

Live

Runs on globally certified cloud infrastructure — data centres holding ISO 27001 and SOC 1/2/3 independent certifications — with data kept in India.

Independent security audit

In progress

We already follow the practices a formal certification requires. An independent CERT-In empanelled audit is planned — not yet started — and we will publish it here rather than claim it early.

Grievance & data-protection contact
A real person, accountable to you

As required by India's IT Rules, 2021 and the DPDP Act, 2023, Societly has a named Grievance Officer. Raise a concern about your personal data, a request to access, correct or delete it, or anything on the platform — and we'll respond.

Questions committees ask

Trust & security FAQ

Does Societly ever hold my society's maintenance money?

When residents pay maintenance in-app, collections are settled to your society's own bank account — usually the next working day. The money belongs to your society, and Societly charges no commission or platform fee on it; we earn only from the software subscription.

Where is my society's data stored, and who can see it?

Your data is hosted on secure, independently-certified cloud infrastructure in India. Access is role-based, so a guard cannot see finances and one resident cannot see another flat's data, and every administrative action is written to an audit log. Each society is isolated from every other society on the platform.

Does Societly sell resident data or show ads?

Never. Societly is not funded by advertising or data — there are no ads, no sponsored notifications, and no data resale. Your residents are never the product; our only job is to build software worth paying for.

Is the AI assistant sending my meeting recordings or bills to a server?

No. Societly's AI runs on the resident's own phone. Meeting minutes, notice and reply drafts, complaint sorting, and bill explanations are all generated on-device — nothing is uploaded to any cloud, it works offline, and it speaks 14 Indian languages. This is a privacy guarantee cloud-based platforms cannot make.

Are my card and payment details safe?

Yes. All card and bank payments are handled by a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment gateway. Societly never sees or stores full card numbers or bank account details on its servers.

Can I get my data out if we ever leave?

Yes. Your society owns its data. You can export members, units, and billing history in standard formats at any time, with no lock-in and no annual contract required. Because your money settles into your own bank and your data is portable, switching away is always painless.

Safe to try. Painless to leave.

Your money settles into your own bank, your data exports anytime, and there's no contract. Start your society free and see for yourself.
